Spring Has Sprung!

As we hang up our winter coats, and dawn our windbreakers and rain jackets, it is time to start thinking about irrigation water entering the canals.

The Wenatchee Reclamation District has announced that irrigation water will enter the main system on Monday, April 8th. Throughout the winter season, debris gathers on the floor of the canal and can be problematic. To avoid any debris-related incidents, it is best practice to let the water run through the canal for a few days before opening the Washington Street Lateral.

The Washington Street Lateral will open sometime between April 10th and 12th.

The Washington Street Irrigation Association (WSIA) is looking for your help. Wenatchee Winters take a huge toll on our aging system and identifying leaks/weak spots early on is imperative.

***IF YOU OR A NEIGHBOR DISCOVERS A LEAK, ALERT THE WSIA BY CONTACTING MARK SHIPMAN AT shipman@nwi.net  or  (509) 670-4606

 Frequently Asked Questions:

What is the WSIA?

The Washington Street Water Association is a independent, volunteer-run organization that works hand in hand with the Wenatchee Reclamation District to bring an affordable and reliable source of irrigation right to your backyard.

How much are the Annual Dues?

As of the 2023-2024 calendar year, the annual dues are $120. The payment of the annual dues covers the cost for regular maintenance and allows water-shareholders access to the irrigation water supplied by the Washington Street Lateral. Shareholders with an unpaid balance may have their irrigation privileges revoked by the Washington Street Water Association. ***Please Note that the cost of the annual dues is subject to change depending on the financial needs of the association for the upcoming year***

Why are there Annual Dues?

As an Irrigation Water Shareholder using irrigation water from the Washington Street Lateral, it is required of you to pay the annual dues to the association. The money collected from the annual dues goes directly toward the maintenance of the lateral. As the lateral ages, leak repairs are far from an anomaly. Repairs are often very costly and because the Washington Street Water Association is independent of the Reclamation District, the money raised from the annual dues is the only "pool" of money the association can "dip" out of.

If you have any other questions concerning the annual dues, please refer to the "Annual Newsletter" tab or contact  Mark Shipman at shipman@nwi.net  or  (509) 670-4606

Can I pay my dues electronically?

Unfortunately, cash and check payments are the only methods of payment accepted by the association at this time. Electronic payment isn't accepted because the association's bank does not allow Zelle or PayPal options to be added to the account. Hopefully, electronic payment options will be available in the near future.
